Bursar's Office

The Bursar's Office, a part of the Office of Fiscal Affairs, is responsible for billing and collection of student fees as well as the disbursement of financial aid funds. This office provides students, parents, and other constituencies with an effective and efficient service with which to conduct their financial affairs with the University.

Cashiering
The University Cashiering Department in the Bursar's Office has the responsibility for the receipt, deposit and safeguarding of institutional funds. The Cashiering function is centralized in the Bursar's section.

Southern University at Shreveport is committed to providing a quality, affordable education to each of its students.

Refunds
The refund policy is published in the official University Catalog and is also published each semester in the University Class Schedule.

The general fee, which includes assessed fees and non-resident fee, is refundable in accordance with the following schedule when a student resigns from the University after completing the registration process.  

Methods of Payment
The University does not accept personal checks. The Cashier’s Office accepts cash, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, money orders, or cashier’s checks for payments on accounts.

Deferment
Under the Deferred Payment Plan (DDP), a student may elect to defer up to 40% of their educational fees.  Specific due dates are given at time of registration. The DDP requires that the student pay at least 60% of current fees assessed at the time of application. Any outstanding balance must be paid in full prior to this type of arrangement. Late fees or books cannot be paid through deferred payment plan.

Payments can be made at the cashier's window located in the Administration Building. If you choose, you may send a cashier's check or money order (with the student ID #, payable to Southern University at Shreveport. Students are strongly advised not to send cash in the mail for payments.
