SHREVEPORT, LA - Southern University at Shreveport TRiO Programs receive over 9 million dollars in funding from the U.S. Department of Education!  The Grant check will be presented during the press announcement this Thursday, June 21st at 10am in the atrium of the Dr. Leonard Barnes Administration building which is located on the main Shreveport campus, 3050 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

CONGRATULATIONS!  SUSLA TRiO Community Outreach Programs

TRiO Community Outreach Programs at Southern University at Shreveport, (SUSLA) receives $9,393,908.00 in grant funding from the U. S. Department of Education continuing through August 31, 2017.

TRiO Community Outreach Programs encompass; Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC), Educational Talent Search (ETS), Upward Bound DeSoto, Upward Bound North, Upward Bound Sabine, Upward Bound South and Upward Bound Natchitoches.  These programs are located at SUSLA’s Metro Campus, 610 Texas Street, downtown Shreveport and operate under the auspices of Ms. Carrie W. Robinson, Executive Director, Dr. Sharon F. Green, Vice Chancellor-Division of Student Affairs and Dr. Ray L. Belton, Chancellor, Southern University at Shreveport.

TRiO programs at SUSLA, (Grantee Institution) keeping true to our role, scope and mission, has successfully served the citizens of Northwest Louisiana since the early 1970’s.  The combined programs are now providing, among others, academic support through instruction, tutoring, counseling, test-taking skills, college survival skills, financial literacy, and career exploration to 1,000 Educational Opportunity Center adults , 859 Educational Talent Searchers and 264 Upward Bounders. 

TRiO Community Outreach Programs are designed to assist eligible participants to enter, excel and succeed in postsecondary education.

Southern University at Shreveport Louisiana, an institution within the Southern University System, seeks to provide a quality education for its students, while being committed to the total community.
