Cyber Security Workshop
Southern University at Shreveport hosted a 2-Day Cybersecurity Awareness Course and Workshop in partnership with Texas A&M University on March 4-5, 2009. The program took place in the Jessie Stone Hall (Day-1: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; Day-2: 8:00 am - 12:00 noon). The event was free to the public and attended by more than 65 individuals from local businesses, Cyber Innovation Center (CIC), and faculty and students from LSUS, BPCC, LCTC, and Shreveport Job Corps.
The workshop introduced participants to threats and vulnerabilities in the Cyber environment and the risk mitigation efforts and tools available to reduce those risks. Attendees learned about Virtual Tools for Expanding the Cyber Horizon (VTECH) and use of the Virtual Network Engineering Laboratory (VNEL). Those who completed the 2-day course will receive certificates of training in Cybersecurity.
