Information Technology Center (ITC)
The Information Technology Center (ITC) provides technology-related services to support academic, administrative, and operational functions of Southern University at Shreveport.
The unit is responsible for organizing, implementing, and managing computing, networks, and institutional data for the entire University and the ancillary sites (Metro and Aerospace Centers). The ITC provides technical services for mainframe and workgroup computing to improve the quality of information delivery; enhances the University wide-area and local area network (LAN) to provide high speed networking to all areas of the campus; implements dial-up network services to provide free Internet access to students, faculty, and staff; develops electronic classrooms/multimedia centers to enhance instructional delivery and distance learning; assists departments with acquisition and installation of computer systems and software; and facilitates computer literacy by conducting technology training workshops.
The unit manages the University's computer networks and accessibility to the Internet; E-Mail and Web services; Moodle Learning System; Banner Student Information System; Video Conferencing facilities; Media Production Studio; Telecom Services; and Computer Laboratories.
The ITC coordinates technology projects with the Southern University Systems office, and transacts technology-related businesses with governmental agencies and vendors.
